Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist and anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. Mitchell traveled along with Ronald Reagan several times to summits and debate issues such as and the Iran Contra scandal.
